THE EV ROADSHOW

THE EV ROADSHOW

Driving Clean Growth Across The UK!

Creative Trunk have had the absolute pleasure of working alongside the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS). In 2018 they launched their Green GB Week which is a programme of events across the UK designed to engage with British businesses and consumers to promote clean and green economic growth.
One of the headliners within the programme is the EV Roadshow which is run by GreenFleet. The aim for this part of the project was to showcase electric vehicles and engage as many business professionals as possible across the whole of the UK. Each individual event featured a large display of the very latest in ULEV technology including a wide range of hybrid and electric vehicles, and charging solutions coupled with a giant TV screen.
Creative Trunk On The Road
It was our job to provide photography and video production services for a number of GreenFleet events over the last few years including both of the EV Roadshows.

Each show was held over 5 consecutive days in November, the 2018 Roadshow saw us visit Bournemouth, Bristol, Durham & Nottingham. The 2019 Roadshow had us stretching from Durham, Liverpool, Coventry to London, each time both were within the 5 days.
At each location there was a vast display of ultra-low emission vehicles, from the likes of; BMW, Tesla, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz, MINI, Smart, Toyota, Renault, Nissan, Lexus, Kia, Volvo, Mitsubishi and Hyundai, to name but a few.

There was a wealth of information and demonstrations from the leading electric vehicle charging manufacturers, with seminars and talks going on around each city. Creative Trunk were, of course, on hand to capture each one of these moments.

The Concept
The aim of the EV Roadshow is to enhance the awareness and promote the benefits of Green energy by engaging with local businesses that operate fleets of vehicles, and educating them on the environmental and cost benefits of integrating ultra-low emission cars and vans into their transport operations.
“Our aim was to grasp their concept with both hands and turn it into a digital masterpiece.”

The brief
Take photos at each EV Roadshow

Create a short highlight video of each day

Record all the seminars

Although this seems like a simple brief, do not be fooled my friends. Shooting every element at each event has to be planned and executed like a seamless military operation. While on the road traveling between destinations there is a large TV screen on the back of a truck that follows the EV Roadshow team to each different location. But here is one of the challenges; with each event, the footage from that day is shot, edited, and then (once signed off) is played on that truck the very next day while being streamed on social media. This is done to entice people to come and engage with the roadshow in real time.
“Creative Trunk are without doubt the very best photographers, videographers and editors I have ever worked with. Having spent many hundreds of hours with them professionally I can honestly say they are the most kind, genial and gentle people to work with. Their enthusiasm is infectious, and skills are outstanding. There is nothing that is too much trouble for them and they truly are a can-do company. My number one choice for all things camera.”

Our Strategy
Our strategy was to approach each day as if it was a military operation, each part of the event was organised and run with precision, like a well-oiled machine. During the planning phase each of our crew member was allocated specific tasks and strict timeframes.

The 3 key elements to making this a successful production are; communication, organisation, and execution. That is something we understand and demonstrate well at Creative Trunk because with the crew having to fulfil their roles in different locations, without those 3 things, that could well be a challenge in itself.

On regular intervals footage was taken from the multiple cameras, data was logged and backed up. When arriving at each hotel or facility, we had an editing suite set up so all photos and videos from that day could be edited and get sent to the relevant parties as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Outcome
The end production was definitely something to write home about, we where all pleased to achieve the results we did in such a short space of time, even with some challenges along the way. Nonetheless, all deadlines were adhered to, all content was shot, edited and quality assured. We are very proud to say that all tasks were completed on time and within budget.

Collaboration, cooperation and consideration were also key factors with this particular project. There was high pressure, strict deadlines and a lot to do, but it was also very rewarding.
